I'm still alive. I'll be at Burning Man this year. I'm currently packing for OHM2013 in Amsterdam-ish. I've been busy, lots of stuff has been happening. Kinda wondering if I should start writing things here [on LJ] again... or at least posting photos.

(Currently I'm only posting photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/foxgrrl/ )

Rather unexpectedly, I'll be at Burning Man next week, camping at 'Sacred Spaces Village [SSV]'; Which is apparently not on the Esplanade this year.

ZZzzzz..

So, so sleepy. I don't know why, but for the last week or so, every time I close my eyes I want to fall asleep. I'm going to bed early, and waking up late, so it's not just sleep-dep. Hopefully it's not mono or something. My guess is that it's some kind of hibernation instinct, now that's it's gotten freezing cold here. That and I'm constantly hungry now, mostly for carbs and fats.

Speaking of eating, I think Thanksgiving is soon, isn't it? Who's doing stuff? I'm going to go to VW's party, and possibly two others. Who else is having a party? (And Sara's party on Sat.)

Oh yeah, I also submitted a talk and a half for Shmoocon.

So, New Years Halloween is upon us again. And I don't have any plans. There's all this stuff: http://twitter.com/sfslim, and a rave up in the woods near Los Gatos (different from the one on Treasure Island), and a party at a friend's place in SF, and Yaoicon, and a zillion other things I'm probably forgetting. I'm leaning towards going out into the wilderness and doing spooky stuff, as I've done the previous two years. So, quick! Someone suggest an activity!
foxgrrl: (Default)
Let's see, there's "Fourth of Juplaya", Toorcamp (kinda late to go now), Anthrocon, "Skeleton Key: A Steampunk Cabaret", a rave somewhere, and a party at [livejournal.com profile] veedub's. What else am I missing?

Completely unrelated, a friend of mine's startup needs to hire a backbone networking person. Someone who know about BGP, and how to diagnose major network problems, and knows who to call at what providers to get things fixed. You don't have to be in the bay area for this one.

OMG, Yuri's Night is tomorrow! It snuck up on me. There's not a party at NASA this year though. This looks like the only one nearby: http://www.calacademy.org/events/nightlife/ It's supposed to be cold here this weekend, so I'm not interested in spending much time outdoors. But the California Academy of Sciences is indoors. But I'm also not really that interested in partying anywhere this weekend, I have stuff to do.

Update: So, now having actually taken a closer look, the party up at the Cal Academy of Science is on the 9th of April. And there's nothing local tomorrow.

Sigh, do I want to go to Super Happy Dev House 31? I have a bunch of research I need to write up, and I otherwise have the day completely free. I can work on my research at SHDH31, but I'll probably end up spending several hours talking about the differences between Von Neumann and Harvard architectures, or modern Superscalar processor design.

There's also a Psy-Trance thing happening in SF this weekend as well:

Update: Also happening soon is http://www.consonance.org if you're at all into filk music.

BURNAL EQUINOX 2009
WonderCon 2009
And a housewarming party, which is a crazy long drive away from here. I still have no idea if I'm even doing any of these this weekend. (Cause there's a lot of other things I won't be doing. (ugh, opportunity cost))

I should figure out if I'm going to CanSecWest soon. It's on March 16-20.

Also, everyone go play with this for me: ConThingy I don't have time to really look at it right now.

OMG, it's Halloween, how did that happen?!

So, I should really do something to celebrate new years, like dress up and go to a party, or going out into the woods to do spooky things. But I think I'd get more satisfaction and fulfillment right now if I just stay at home and process the last few months of photos.

Update:
Tomorrow, Ghostship party: http://spacecowboys.org
Tonight: http://galaxyraver.com/viewtopic.php?f=174&t=646&sid=8bde3c54976f57c3b183c3118f87ec88
and French bordello Halloween masquerade ball.
and a party at someone's house in Half Moon Bay.

There is also this stuff.

There's also usually gigantic parties on the streets around the Castro in SF. But I heard the city was tring to stop that from happening. And there's also the large drunken street crowd scene in Santa Cruz. Not sure if it's going to rain tonight though.

(I don't have time to make a fancy table of all this)

I have no idea about this:

And there's no parties from any of these people, but I'm just putting these here for reference:

And also, http://upcoming.yahoo.com/user/14674/

And this has nothing to do with anything else at the moment, but it's also for my own reference:

14:00-23:00 345 Spear St. SuperHappyDevHouse

Outside San Francisco:
10:00-18:00 Hollister, CA Ren Faire

And then a bunch of parties like this one.
foxgrrl: (Default)
So, right now I'm missing The Last Hope although there's still enough time for me to jump on a plane and make it. PET is coming up in a few days, and I want to spend time with [livejournal.com profile] enochsmiles, but I could buy a MacBook or Nikon D300 for what plane tickets are now. And time-wise, I'm trying to keep my head above water at work. And I also noticed that if I can stop spending money for three months, I'll have enough saved up for surgery (yes, that operation).

In the meantime, I'm going up to [livejournal.com profile] veedub's tonight, and then to the Infected Mushroom concert at 1015 Folsom [in San Francisco].

Assuming that I don't fly out to Belgium at the last minute, I'm thinking of driving up to this: http://www.thegreenwolf.com/kingather08.html next weekend, for reasons I'll explain later.
foxgrrl: (Default)
Ok, so I can jump on a plane tonight or tomorrow and fly out to GAIAN MIND SUMMER FESTIVAL. If I was going to drive out, I'd have needed to have already started two days ago — and I don't have the time with crazy work deadlines. I've been dithering on going so much, that plane tickets are now about ~$600 to the DC area, and ~$700 to the Pittsburgh area. Plus $145 for registration; and ~$100 for a rental car or something. Also, the site where the event is held, also seems to have an outbreak of the Norwalk virus or something, so I just have to do the burner-thing of bringing all of my drinking and washing/bathing water onto the site with me. And I'm still kinda a tiny bit ill from this whatever I've had for the last two weeks.

…Not that any of this has ever stopped me…

If I took next week off, I could visit friends on the East Coast, and then go to Anthrocon next weekend. (Which means that I'd miss San Francisco LGBT Pride.) If I fly back Sunday or Monday, that only really gives me a day or two at Gaian Mind, and an almost equal amount of time sitting on airplanes or driving around. Which is not very relaxing.

I can't really telecommute right now, because I'm currently building another server farm at work (it's a small simulation of the Internet.) So I'd get another week behind on stuff at work.

If I stay in the Bay Area, there are several parties I could attend:
[livejournal.com profile] feyandstrange and [livejournal.com profile] digitalsidhe's Housewarming party (Sat. Jun 21 19:00-)
Kallisticon, and [livejournal.com profile] tyrsalvia and [livejournal.com profile] metaphorge's Housecooling party (Sat. Jun 21 21:00-)
[livejournal.com profile] veleda's Solstice ritual, and Burning Man thingy, the web site is down, it's supposed to be here: http://www.temple08.com/AwakeningSun.html And the party is apparently on (Fri. Jun 20 19:30-)
And then [livejournal.com profile] veedub is teaching a class on Feri tomorrow (Fri Jun 20 19:00-), and wants me to show up to help teach the newbies.

I think that's it… other than the zillions of other things in my personal life I have to attend to.
foxgrrl: (Default)
First of all, Shpongle and Younger Brother are playing live tonight in San Francisco:
http://sanfrancisco.tribe.net/event/Symbiosis-presents-Shpongle-Younger-Brother-Antennae-Ania-Sia-More-This-Fri-May-16th-SF/san-francisco-ca/6394c084-a49c-49e5-b50b-36c7db807798
I really really want to go, and will most likely be there, but some of my friends can't make it, and it won't be as fun without them. =T_T=

I'd post audio clips here, so you could hear how awesome they are, but I don't have time to do that right now…

Then there's Ancient Ways taking place right now. And driving down to Los Angeles for Layer One inclusive or Califur, but I'd really be more interesting in visiting my ex-GF in Bakersfield. I also need to decide really quickly, whether or not I'm going to go to PH-Neutral

Speaking of Bakersfield, I have a young MtF friend down there who's having difficulty with getting HRT from her doctor(s). Can anyone recommend a good doctor to see for trans issues, located in either Bakersfield or the Los Angeles area?
foxgrrl: (Default)
So, there's BELTANE ALCHEMY: http://www.isisoasis.org/beltane2008/
And Costume-Con 26: http://www.cc26.info/
And a party at [livejournal.com profile] gentle_gamer's house.
Since the weather is supposed to be super-nice tomorrow, I really want to spend it outdoors. So I'm probably going to none of the above. (There's also taking a day off to clean my room and process photos and stuff like that which I never have time to do.)
I've been informed that there is also a parade taking place in downtown Mountain View tomorrow as well.
foxgrrl: (Default)
I'm flying up to Seattle tomorrow for Toorcon. I am renting a car, but haven't figured out where I'm going to sleep yet. Nyah is accompanying me on this journey.

Arrival: SEA Apr 17 2:40PM PDT
foxgrrl: (Default)
Ok, tonight, there's a Alexander James Adams concert tonight, and a party with [livejournal.com profile] laughingstone et al. and [livejournal.com profile] maradydd and [livejournal.com profile] enochsmiles are arriving back from Europe and I want to spend some time with them.

Tomorrow and Sunday, there's the party at [livejournal.com profile] laughingstone and everyone's place, and the Exotic Erotic Ball, and the Freaker's Ball, and a Feri Spiral Dance thingy up in the city, and Yaoi-Con.

And then on Wed (Oct 31), Nyah wants to celebrate Samhain with me, and there's a Landmark Seminar I'm thinking of attending, and there's also the Odd Ball in Santa Cruz that night. (In addition to the large street parties in SF and SC.)

My current plans are to spend time with Nyah, and the Freaker's ball.
