I'm thinking of not going to 24C³ this year, as much as I really want to spend some more time in Berlin, and hang out with everyone. This year, all of the days between Christmas and New Years are mandatory vacation days by my company. So time off won't be an issue. But my passport expires on Dec 21, and getting it renewed is potentially going to be an incredible pain in the ass, because the US State Department are being bastards. (They want to know what's in my pants before they'll renew my ID. (And it's none of their damn business.)) Also, there are other things that I could use the ~US$1000 for a European trip for.
23C³ Photo Preview

Over the course of the last week, I have taken almost four thousand photographs. Until I can set aside enough time to work on processing them, here are a few that I've skimmed out. It may be a few days before I publish more photo sets.

(aller Input firewalled heraus).

Via London
Dec. 26th, 2006 10:08 amI'm sitting in the Shopping/Eating area of Heathrow Airport, Terminal 1. It turns out that there really is no security-zone purgatory for arriving international passengers. I could have jumped on the Underground and explored London for three hours. It took me about an hour to get from Terminal 4 to 1 (, and get through security and everything). Maybe I'll do that next time I'm here — I mean the time after next time, since I'm only here for about an hour on the return flight.
I'll post some more later, my laptop battery is running low, and I only have a power cord for US and Germany (not UK). (And I don't want to buy a converter from one of the many stores encircling me.)
I'm still not sure where I'm going to sleep tonight in Berlin. I'll improvise something.
Meanwhile, Here's a new poll!

Getting Ready for CCC
Dec. 18th, 2006 09:46 pmLet's see…
Plane Tickets… check
Purple Hair… check
US Passport… in progress…
What do I want for Christmass… my passport. (My new diver's license would be good too, it's only been five months since I renewed it. (My previous one took almost three years, which is why it suddenly exipred after only two.) Civil servants seem to love messing with transsexuals, probably because we're in a lower social class than they are?)
Assuming that I can gain entry into the country, here's where I'll be: (all times local)
So, I have five hours to kill in London Heathrow, but I probably can't leave the airport. And about six hours to kill in Phoenix. So, if anyone in London, or Phoenix has an urge to hang out with me in person, that's where I'll be.
I should be on the ground in California, for New Years — which gives me about 40 minutes to get anywhere to celebrate. (But too early to see any fireworks from the air.) The plane tickets were only about US$230, so I don't really mind so much. (Yes, there was magick involved in getting them.)
Now, I still need to figure out where I will be sleeping, while in Berlin. Hopefully, one of my dear friends (that's you) will have some crash space available.
Other plans for this week: Work–work–work, go to rave in Santa Cruz on Friday (Dec 22), then down to San Luis Obispo for the weekend, to hang out with
trema_slo et al. Christmas morning down there, and then drive up to SJC by afternoon.
Correction: The plane tickets were about US$320, I accidentally transposed the first two digits. I don't know why I do that all the time.
