Defcon is a convention for network security specialists, right? Is there any kind of gathering, any at all, in the bay area that isn't also a psychedelic rave?

It has also been steadily heading in that direction since 2001 at the very latest.

Nothing's wrong with it. I like that about the west coast. It's like a trade expo, but since most everyone there is going to be from California it's going to be a freak fest too. Any part of the country more than 200 miles inland from the coast would shake it's head and frown at the decadence. Except Vegas of course.
