Dear LiveJournal-peeps:

Where do you find the time to read/write to LiveJournal? I barely have time to eat, sleep, and bathe, let alone do LiveJournal thingies. (Like, I can read my friend's journal once every week or two.)

*Pulls up shirt to reveal network cable attached to my belly button* I'm unemployed at the moment, so that's a big reason I'm Posty McPosty Pants (and read a lot of other LJ's). Were I working, I'd probably only be checking my F-List once a day, if that.

Having no job, no friends, and no love life frees me up to read lj all day long!

Pretty simple really: I have no job, little social life to speak of, and keep weird hours. I don't see my boyfriend nearly as often as I'd like, but that's because I have no way to get to him conveniently, nor does he have the gas money to afford a trip up here very often either.

So, there are many crappy parts about my life that I wish would be better, but then I'd have less time to do LJ (and other online stuff). Alas.

I check it when I arrive at work in the morning, occasionally post at lunchtime, get a couple of hours between me getting home and the other half getting home in the evenings and I don't frequent many websites any more. Just LJ and the League, really, so it slots in around my training quite readily.

Didn't used to have time, but that was when I was trying to keep up with several fora. The whole being on the naughty step for 2 months at work put paid to that. It only takes me 15 minutes to check my email and LJ first thing in the morning.

I don't watch tv - we don't even have a tv.

I don't play video games, computer games, WoW or 2nd life.

I work at home so it is one of the ways I connect to my friends, near and far.

Also, it is something I do for myself, to make a record of my experieces. Sometimes I take the time to look back, either seeking out a previous entry, peeking in at where I was a year ago (or at some past time) or wishing to recall a certain memory in more detail.

So for these reasons, I make the time to read and/or post.

Lots of people don't. We have one but it really only gets pulled out and turned on when a friend brings over their video game console.

nope. we have a video projector which we use to watch movies with. that's even better, because we can't waste daylight hours in front of it (now the internets, that is a different story.) but my time in the internets is mostly used to interact with friends, or at least catch up with their lives through their journals.

try it some time - you'll be amazed at how much time you have to do other stuff when you're not waiting for commercials to end, waiting for your show to come on... :-)

We mortals don't have a convention (or two, or three) on our schedule for every single week. Besides, I am planning to write a long detailed method of dealing with the problem in my LJ, but you won't see it, so ... :-)

I just don't read LJ. Oh, and I love deleting friends from social networks. Once a month I pick someone at random to delete. I think it's socially healthy to delete friends. Give it a shot sometime.

I just kinda scan through it once in a while and think about it in some of the lulls of the day, then take the minute it takes to write.

largely I just make it part of my general news-scan (that whole, once an hour check the big sites for whats happeningin the world as part of my general 5 minute per hour brain break. I skim through stuff a lot, and very rarely post or reply..

I suspect most people spend lots less time traveling than you do. Most people do not have as many irons in the fire as you do, either.

As for me personally, I post at lunch, before work, on breaks, and after work. I post on LJ so I can avoid watching Law and Order (the TV is always on at my place). Also, I am a compulsive talker.

Dear, Foxgrrl...I have no life = (

I work a crappy retail job a few days out of the week...therefore I have ALOT of time on my hands, but usually aren't motivated to do ANYTHING.

The irony is that when I am doing things worthy of lj-ing, I have no time to update. The only time I can update is when I'm bored/depressed and emo-tastic.

I skim-read lj from a couple times a day at work (no internet policy, and I really don't care about lj being sniffed if they saw it) and hope to write replies to specific posts later. Means I don't generally follow cuts that often, but occasionally I do. Light reading, and hoping the people who need to keep in touch make it blatantly obvious they need to do so.

I usually refresh the friends page when I get up.

And sometimes I get in this loop of obsessively refreshing it, along with a couple news sites.

I don't have a full-time job, either.

You work too much, honey. Plus you can add mad con-hopping to your list up there... and just being a general wildchild....

:-)

People make time based on a weighted system of priorities in their lives... It's always good to check in on this system and evaluate and re-evaluate what you are getting out of it and what you want out of it. What is it bringing to your life, your sense of peace, what you learn and how you get inspiration for what's important.

I miss your neat personhood. It's always a joy to see you pop up somewhere on the grid.

Hugs & Purrs,
Adj.

Mostly I'm also on the occasional lj schedule.

I just wanted to bop by and thank you again for donating me the Little 64meg Thumb Drive That Could. It's rattled around in my pocket without the cap for months, and then today, to my aghast... aghastity? aghastness?... one of the administrative staff at school decided that the non-removable *housing* was the cap and managed to pull it off the back and wedge it onto the front before returning the thing to me. (I'd left it in the office.) I had to get it off with my teeth.

And yet it's still working!

They don't make 'em like they used to, apparently. :-)

God, I have no time for LJ lately. I just took two days of "working at home" so that I could catch up on so many things and it's the first time I've caught up on LJ, much less tried to write anything, in over a month.

I'll occasionally post stuff to LJ on weekends when it seems worthwhile. But most of my reading and posting is done at work, because I feel very isolated and desparate for contact. What is really strange is that I read and write LJ stuff around nearly the same rate when work is really busy as when it is dead quiet; it's as though, when my mind starts cranking work faster to deal with the volume, it also clocks leisure stuff faster.

Don't tell my boss, he thinks I'm working!!!

Which is why you will never see me reading a post with video or a youtube link, or posting one myself. Moving pictures and sound, not so discrete.

I rarely have time, a couple times a month or so I will take a look, go back a week or so and make some comments. I just hope people dont think they are being snubbed or anything. I know a lot of people count on LJ for a good chunk of their communication. But I have email and a cell phone for that.

BTW, good seeing ya a few weeks ago! And thanks. :)
