This was my sledge-hammer solution to the iPhone syncing problem:

echo -n > /Users/julia/Library/Application Support/SyncServices/Local/clientdata/0063006f006d002e006100700070006c0065002e004d006f00620069006c006500530079006e0063002e0066006400650031006400620031006600660039003200360061003000390030006400390031003300310066006200300036003800330065003900330030006300640063006100320066006600620037/00690050006f006400530079006e00630043006c00690065006e00740043006f006d007000750074006500720041006e00630068006f0072004b00650079

The phone now syncs properly. (I guess this is why I get paid the big-bucks?)

Congrats on your fix.

As a largely unrelated question, because you are the only person I know who has an iphone, how easy and convenient is the keyboard to use? I'm tempted by the large multi-touch screen, but the 2 pdas I've used both had actual qwerty thumb keyboards that I quite like, and I'm wondering what you think of the iphone's on-screen keyboard compared to more conventional thumb keyboards.

I'm waiting...

...for the OpenMoko project to progress a bit more myself. My current cell phone works well enough for what I need, and by the time I need to upgrade again the OpenMoko should be functional I think.

I'm waiting for hardware - likely this is because I'm more interested in a pda media player that is also a phone, than something that's a phone first and a pda and media player 2nd, but whenever someone comes out with a 4-5" diagonal multi-touch screen with a good keyboard (which I'm betting will mean a slide-out or clamshell accessible keyboard), with wifi and a good camera, I'm not going to be all that concerned at what OS it uses.

I read "sledge-hammer solution to the iPhone" and expected something similar to Will It Blend behind the cut. Oh well. :(

I agree. When I think "sledgehammer" solution, I think of something with alot less numbers. o.O

It's the mathematical model of a sledgehammer.
