It's like I'm living in the future now.
Jun. 8th, 2006 06:26 pmHey everyone! Look at me! I'm Blogging from the airport! Woo-hoo!
I didn't have time to mention this yet, but I went out and bought a black 2 GHz Intel Core Duo Apple MacBook on monday. (And an extra 2G of memory for it.) I'm typing this, on that, right now, in the Chicago Midway Airport. (I'd give the GPS coordinates for my exact location, but I packed my GPS in my checked luggage. I also bought a copy of Aperture.
So now I can blog live photos from wherever I go. Here's the payphone sitting in front of me:

And the lovely view out the window:

Here's a picture of the airplane wing I sat over on the way here, in Infrared and Ultraviolet. (I'll explain later...)

It's very noisy here right now, because about 100 young teenagers just showed up, all apparently going to Washington DC with me. I think they're all going camping or something, or in a cult. They're all wearing a badge around their necks that says "ET". Here.. I'll discretely take a picture of one...

There was also a huge group of Methodists, all wearing identical yellow shirts, with a bunch of stuff related to camping, and such, and a reference to a verse in Mathew 14, that I forget now. (Both a camping group and a cult.) On the plane that left this gate earlier, which I was waiting here, were some type of Buddhist or Hare Krishnah monks, which was cool. (Unfortunately, I'm not that familiar enough to recognize which religion exactly.) [That plane went to Laguardia.]

Date: 2006-06-09 12:23 am (UTC)Yeah, I figured it out a few minutes ago and corrected that. I had to deal with airport stuff first. My flight is now delayed another two hours.

Date: 2006-06-12 06:45 am (UTC)My D50 still has the UV,IR anti-alias filter over the sensor, so exposure time suxors. And I don't have anything like a 105mm Nikkor-Micro UV lens, or even any fluorite-glass lenses, so most of my glass – like the Nikon G series "ED" lenses I have – just will not focus UV and IR light onto a point at any focal length. My old 50mm f1.8 lens seems to do much better, especially with IR, but I think it only has like three lens elements in it (The G series lenses have like 13).

Date: 2006-06-12 08:40 pm (UTC)I've seen some interesting things on the web about making a pinhole aperture and shooting digital with it; while it would not be all that great for image sharpness and exposure times, it would certainly pass any wavelength. Might be worth trying out.
Neat stuff! Thanks for sharing.

Date: 2006-06-24 12:20 pm (UTC)What I think I said was: That I had thought about using a pinhole, and that I now have a steel plate with a 13/1000 of an inch, perfectly circular, hole in it. I haven't taken any photos with this pinhole yet, but if you hold it up to your eye and look through it, you can see the optical imperfections in your own eyeball.

Date: 2006-06-12 06:35 am (UTC)There is apparently a company that will paint you Mac laptop(s) into any color you want. [The guy at the Apple store told me so.]
