Shmoocon/Burning Man Tickets

Burning Man tickets go on sale today, I'm currently number 6760 in line. I won't be surprised if they've already sold out the first 10,000. Although I'm not 100% certain that I'm going to Burning Man this year, I'm sure that I can find someone to use the ticket(s).

Shmoocon rejected my talk proposal along with 90 others submitted, yay! This tremendously simplifies my life, since when I submitted the talk, I didn't realize that Shmoocon was at the same time as something else I had committed to doing in San Jose. I was worried that I'd have to fly out to DC, go to the hotel, give my talk, go back to the airport and jump on the first plane back to the bay area, all on one day.

Anyway, as a consolation, Shmoocon is offering me a normal registration for only $75. So, if you want/need a Shmoocon ticket, I can get you one, since I'm preoccupied that weekend and can't make it to DC.

They did sell out the first 10k BM tkts. I have a few friends that are waiting in line for the $225 tickets like you appear to be.

My talk got approved for Shmoocon, but my logistics are also difficult (but maybe not quite as bad as yours would have been).

I'm mostly like going to Yuri's night. And the deadline for the con in Amsterdam — Black Hat Europe — is Feb 1, so I have to weeks to write the proposal. (As opposed to the 60 minutes or so that I spent on the Shmoocon one.)

I would very much like to go to Shmoocon this year, but I don't think it'll work.

My birthday's that weekend, and I'll be on the road for pretty much the entire month of February, so I'm not sure that I'll even want to go anywhere that weekend.

I'm torn.
