  1. Got zapped with lasers for the last time today. The anesthetic worked this time, so I wasn't screaming and crying in pain for several hours.
  2. I'm thinking of going to this: http://www.worldspaceparty.com/schedule.php
  3. My cell phone suddenly stopped working the other day &mdash That is to say, when I try to call out with it, I get a recorded message saying that this phone is not authorized for making phone calls. This is not the message you get when you don't pay your bill. At first I thought it was just a local outage, but it wasn't. So I go to the <phone carrier> franchise store, and I discover that my current phone has been deactivated because there's a new phone on my account, and the number was transfered to that. This was news to me; I didn't get a new phone. So they gave me the 800 number to call, cause they couldn't do anything there. The 800 number is a voice menu hell, which only accept voice input, no DTMF. If you ask for anything about Activation/Deactivation or other, it says it's forwarding you to a [human] representitive… but it's really a recording saying that, Your call could not be completed as dialed, please hang up and try you call again

...the only thing that I hate worse than menu hell is voice activated menu hell.

Sounds like someone mis-typed the number when someone else upgraded their phone, or you've been hijacked/cloned. Good luck clearing that up.

BTW, I always wanted to ask, how much do the laser hair removal treatments generally cost?

I prolly don't have to tell you this, but there are direct-to-human listings online for every major cell phone company. gethuman.com alone has the access paths for 20 different companies. And good luck dealing with the phone thingie.

Voice menu is a tool designed by Satan. Or Republicans. They never understand what you're saying. It's an especially awful and terrifying kind of Hell when you're sick and your voice just refuses to work, because no amount of pressing buttons and rasping commands into the receiver will make an actual human customer service drone pick up and talk to you. After a while, you just have to throw your phone at the wall and hope that you don't die because of some stupid voice menu thingie that won't work at the medical insurance company.

Just goes to show you should never call anyone with voice menus.

How dare you insult Satan like that ;P

BTW, to bypass voice mail hell, hit zero. It often puts you through to the operator. I've tried it myself.

Dusty's working it (he'll be manning the WiMax tower he built for the base) and a few folks from my company are going. I might show up, depending on how my workload goes tonight. :)

You may want to keep trying to get a human because it could just be their IVR is down. You'd be surprised how often this happens -- stared at tomcat logs watching the IVR fail on one of our servers for over an hour Sunday. Failing that, try checking online for an email address and see if you can google the name of the CEO and send them a nastygram.

Agreed about various hells. I think that's one nice thing about T-Mobile. Sure, it's expensive, and the reception is bad, and file transfers are slow. But their support line is one of the few good voice menu thingies. You can use touch-tone, you can use voice, and if you press 0, it actually says, 'Hold on, I'll get you in touch with someone.' before connecting you to a real human. And the winningest part is that if it gets confused, and even if you fail entering the account information in, it defaults to 'Get you in touch with someone' without even pressing 0.

I swear, their support, in both menu and people, is reason alone to stick with them.

My money is on the hijack/clone, BTW.

Have you tried calling your number from another phone to see who or what, if anything, answers?

Or are there good reasons not to do that?
