I don't know if I'll have time to post more Burning Man pictures tonight — the "Places" and "Things" categories. I need to finish unpacking from Burning Man, and finish cleaning all of the playa dust off everything. This is potentially the last time I will have enough time to clean for the rest of the month @.@

And speaking of removing playa dust, does anyone have a [working] copy of Nikon Capture NX, who could do some image processing for me? As far as I know it's the only thing that you can use the 'dust off' reference images from the D50/D200/etc. with... and my copy doesn't run, and I don't have time right now to track down and fix Nikon's stupid bugs. (It has never run for me, I don't think the Intel-Mac has anything to do with it though.)

Here's some files you can play with:

The dust reference frame for the above

This is what I get for changing lenses out on the playa:

12:12 Emerald Portal... maybe?

I slept under this structure/artwork on Sunday night after the Waffle burn. Nyah had been dancing on the coals in the path through the center of the [now burned] waffle, melting her shoes and stuff, while I was off dancing by one of the art-cars that had a portable... dance club, attached to it (that was true of most of the larger vehicles). As I was leaving to look for Nyah, I ran into this Israeli guy [Spiral] who knew me from DefCon. We ended up talking about sacred geometry and time travel or something. Not finding Nyah, I searched for my bike... and couldn't find it either. I did however find Nyah's bike. So, the question in my mind was, did Nyah take my bike, or did someone else? Because if someone else did, then if I took Nyah's bike, it would leave her stranded, or at least freaked out because she couldn't find her bike. However, if Nyah was the one who took it, there wasn't any problem. So I looked for Nyah again, didn't find her, or my bike. Waited around for a bit in case she was on/in one of the art cars. And then I got tired of waiting around the remaining coals from the Waffle, so I walked out to the deep playa after moonset to watch the stars.

Burning Man at night, is like being on the inside of a giant blinky raver toy. It's very difficult to maintain your eyes in night vision mode. (At least for me it was.) Far out on the playa however, it is quite dark. With the lack of light pollution, the night sky is quite brilliant. I wasn't confident that I had enough blinking-glowing stuff on me to be easily visible from a bus, should I just lay down out on the middle of the empty playa. So a laid down in the middle of the art project pictured above, figuring that it would protect me from the roving couches.

Wouldn't that be a cool obituary? Here lies Julia Wolf 197?-2006: Killed when run over by a living-room couch.

Anyway, I fell asleep, then I woke up, went back to the ex-Waffle, took Nyah's bike back to camp, where I found Nyah fast asleep.

PS: Made some new LJ icons last night.
