Weekend Plans - Portland?

So, the deadline for this weekend is fast approaching (I'd say, in a little bit more than 24 hours). And I haven't decided yet whether to drive up to Portland, OR to visit [livejournal.com profile] amberite, [livejournal.com profile] teaotter, [livejournal.com profile] heron61, [livejournal.com profile] kengr, [livejournal.com profile] pdxsharkey, [livejournal.com profile] gidget23, and whomever else I've forgotten that lives up there. I might even make it to Orycon or something.

I've never been to Portland before, so this would be a new and frightening experience for me, zomg! It may forever change who I am, or something.

The alternatives are to stay home this weekend, sleep, fix my computer, finish repainting the bathroom, maybe read some books I never have time to read, or to listen to some CDs that I haven't even had the time to remove from their plastic shrinkwrap yet. (Oh yeah, and work on some exploits, or posting of my photos.) Nyah is going to be out of town this weekend too, so it's just me for now.

I highly recommend Portland, and the good company to be found therein.

I 2nd Lupa's response.

I'm actually heading down to Portland myself tomorrow. I'm only staying for the night, but we have an awesome monthly at the new club Pi-Rem, which is always followed by gluttony at Voodoo doughnuts!

What's the monthly thing you refer to? I'm a Portlander, only went to the Pi-Rem once and was not all that impressed...but it was a slower night and nothing much going on. I was the only one on the dance floor.

I'd go again if it was an interesting event...at least they don't usually have a cover. :-}

It's our Chickenhed monthly... a little ummm, less than ordinary, but always fun! And no cover! tinyurl.com/y2un97

I second the late-night voodoo doughnut recommendation!

Well, I (and a couple thousand other people) will be at Orycon if you decide to visit.

Not that either of us is likely to recognize the other even if we run into each other. :-)

Portland is a rocking place that is sure to change your life forever. We'd love to see you!

I didn't know Orycon was this weekend. o.o

Oh yeah, hi, I'm in Portland too. As yet without plans for the weekend, but also rather broke. :-P

Portland is nifty, if really cold...

A bit late considering you're already back home, but it only snows a day or so every few years from what I hear, but gets to 35-40ish here a lot.

Well, if you drive up to portland and back, you could stop by and say hi to me on the way up, or way back, if you wanted to :) Of course, its sort of a detour if you take hwy 5 all the way up from the bay area, or back down, or something. But I thought I`d offer, since I think you are amazingly cool and it would be fun. Er, and its kind of late too, but um... yea.

Oh, and thanks to how wonderful you are, I`m able to enroll in a digital photojournalism class next semester, which should be a tremendous amount of fun. Yes, getting credits towards my bachelors degree for taking pictures and playing with them in photoshop :D

That's 299, and no, there's no mount shasta between redding and eureka :) Actually, 299 dumps you onto 101 about 6 miles south of the exit to my place, but I've no idea how long it takes to drive 299. I've only ever been a third of teh way down it towards redding. It appears to be a good, well-maintained highway though :)

I'll keep my cellphone on me, uh, I did remember to give you that number right? I think I did... can't quite remember. It would be cool to see you! But don't feel obligated, and in any case I'm sure there'll be other trips, I'm not going anywhere :D

Hope you have a lovely trip, and say hi to [livejournal.com profile] amberite for me (I have no idea what name to call her anymore, lost track of what she was going by these days)

Hrm, thanksgiving plans: the 23rd, two sets of parties demand my attention. The 24th, supposedly mom is coming up to see me, though she knows that I'll have "company" and thus the more the merrier! Adam's up here of course, and we've been trying to talk our friend from seattle to come down. Aside from that, nothing else marrs my schedule. Well, work in the mornings, but who's awake early in the mornings anways? Except for me I mean :D Come up anytime, its all good to me :) Although, it is almost always raining here these days, so you know. There is really nothing to do here, except movies, sadly. And not too many interesting people.
