I've been calling that number over and over again for hours. It just rings and rings and rings. I called my cell carrier yesterday, to explicitly make certain that I could use my cell phone over here, and they assured me that I could - Except now that I'm here, I really can't. And they locked my online-login-muck-with-your-account account, so I can't try to fix it from their web site - and the customer service number is 611 - completely useless if you're not on their network.
Anyway, tell her I'm sitting around outside, across the street from the Amsterdam Centraal train station.
Ok, my laptop battery was about to die, so I went over to the Haarlemsch Koffiehuis to plug my laptop in. It's on the other side of the river, next to the Victoria Hotel (and like the red-light district with all the head shops and stuff).
Yeah the canal tours are quite visible from where I'm sitting. I've been walking back and forth, and taking photos of them for the last few hours…
The sun is just starting to set now. There's probably another hour or so until it gets dark. (It's noon in California.) I'm pretty butch-looking, so most guys leave me alone these days — that wasn't always the case. I've had some [three years] martial arts training too, and stuff. I've got luggage with me, so I haven't really been moving around much. I'm sitting in a Koffiehuis currently, typing away on my laptop.
